Rocking Horses from Windmill Antiques

Rocking Horse Specialists

In 2000 Harry and Judy Cridland asked us to restore a family heirloom, a splendidly carved Ayres rocking horse on safety stand which they called 'Mr Dapple'. They were delighted with the result and asked us to make a copy, but this time on bow rockers, to be known as 'Mrs Dapple'.

So enthused were they by what they saw, the Cridlands decided to start their own business retailing rocking horses and, although we have done no further work for them beyond these two horses, they still give prominent place to Mr or Mrs Dapple in all their advertising. A compliment indeed!

At the request of Mr and Mrs Cridland, we made this version of Mr Dapple on bow rockers after the event.

Working from memory and using photos taken by us during the course of restoration of the original on safety stand, we were able to design appropriate templates for the new body and suitable bow rockers.
